This body of work from 2009–2018 represents a formative period of exploration, during which the artist’s visual language and approach to image-making were still emerging. It is an open phase marked less by strong consistency than by experimentation, trial and error, and the gradual refinement of a personal perspective. The work reflects a shifting environment—growing up in the countryside in Plasy, studying in Písek, followed by a year-long stay in London, and a final move to Prague—bringing continuous changes in context, people, and internal disposition. This is mirrored in the diversity of both subject matter and form.
Thematically, the works operate on thresholds—between eroticism and pornography, between personal experience and public space, between control and the loss of stability. They reveal an interest in addiction, in the relationship to the human body, and in various forms of activism. A unifying thread lies in emotion, corporeality, and immediate human experience. The transition from color imagery toward increasing desaturation is also evident here—one of the defining characteristics of the artist’s later work.
