Jan Škop (*1990, Prague) is a Czech fine art photographer whose work consistently explores existential themes, human vulnerability, and the tension concealed beneath the surface of everyday life. He focuses on staged figurative photography and psychological portraiture. His images construct reduced, timeless environments in which the body is understood as a medium of psychological states, social roles, and fluid identity. Through black-and-white stylization and precise light modeling, he translates emotion and inner conflict into a visual language that balances intimacy, beauty, and latent unease.
His work has been repeatedly recognized in international photography competitions. Among other distinctions, he received the Jury Prize at Czech Art Photo (2024) and was named Gold Winner at the Muse Photography Awards (2025), along with numerous honorable mentions across other platforms (ReFocus 2026, MonoVisions Awards, FEP, among others). Škop has exhibited both in the Czech Republic and internationally (Italy, France, New York, and beyond). His work has also been published in book form (Jan Škop – 0) and featured in publications dedicated to contemporary portraiture.
